Perch is built to be private. We do not require an account, we do not sell your data, and the trips you log stay on your device. We don't run analytics, ads, or third-party trackers.
Your trips and settings — on your device only. Trip dates, countries, and your preferences are stored locally on your device (offline). We do not upload them to a server, and we cannot see them.
Location — on-demand, on-device. When you tap to detect your country (or enable the optional "detect on open" feature), Perch reads your device's location only at that moment, converts it to a country on your device, and discards the precise coordinates. We store only the resulting country code on the relevant trip and a "last detected country" value locally. Perch never tracks your location in the background and never transmits your location to us or anyone else. You can decline or revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings; the app still works.
Notifications — computed on your device. If you enable alerts, they are scheduled locally on your device from your own data. We do not send push notifications from a server.
Perch+ subscriptions are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat, our subscription provider. When you subscribe or restore a purchase, RevenueCat receives purchase/receipt information and an anonymous app-user identifier so your subscription can be validated and unlocked across your devices. We do not receive your name, card number, or Apple ID. See their privacy policies for how they handle this data:

If you have a Perch+ subscription and want purchase data associated with your anonymous identifier deleted, contact us and we'll forward the request to RevenueCat.
Perch is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
We may update this policy; we'll change the effective date above and, for material changes, note it in the app.
